Overview

This project focused on designing a mobile application tailored for elderly users to support daily health management, independence, and social connection. The app provides features such as medication reminders, simplified communication with family, emergency assistance, and gentle cognitive exercises.

Problem

Many elderly individuals struggle with managing medications, staying connected with loved ones, and using modern technology due to accessibility challenges. Existing health apps often have cluttered interfaces and fail to address their specific needs.

Process

Conducted user interviews with elderly participants and caregivers.

  • Created personas reflecting different levels of digital literacy.

  • Iterated wireframes focusing on readability, contrast, and intuitive navigation.

  • Tested prototypes with seniors to refine usability.

Solution

We developed a user-friendly app with a minimal interface, large typography, voice interaction, and one-tap emergency support. The design emphasized accessibility (WCAG-compliant), simplicity, and reassurance, making it easier for seniors to engage with technology confidently.

Takeaway:

Designing for the elderly requires prioritizing clarity, trust, and accessibility. By combining empathetic research with inclusive design principles, we created an app that empowers seniors to live more independently while staying connected to their support network.
